Okay, let me get this off my chest. I collected comic books from the mid-eighties
until the mid-nineties, and every once in a while I pick up a new one to add to my collection. I have hundreds of comic
books in my collection, and I’m ashamed to say that not one features Watchmen. In fact, I’ve never heard
of it until I saw the trailer that played before The Dark Knight last summer… ever since then I wanted to know more
about Watchmen, and now’s our chance to play catch-up with Watchmen: The Complete Motion Comic.
I still
haven’t had the chance to pick up any Watchmen graphic novels, so this review will be based solely on this Blu-Ray and
not the source itself. Let me tell you, it was nice to get a little insight into the novel before actually going to
see the new film in the theaters, I’m not sure if it was an exact copy of the novel, but I’m assuming it was pretty
accurate. One thing you must know before buying this Blu-Ray is that this is not a regular animated feature; it’s
more like a moving comic book with a narrator.
I am
recommending this title for anyone who knows nothing of the graphic novel and would like to have a little more insight into
Watchmen. And I’m sure people familiar with the novels will love to see this artsy rendition of the book brought
to life. I must warn you though, the narration does get tiring very quickly, especially since he narrates the entire
cast… man or woman.
