It’s rare to see a remake of a highly popular television show match or [dare I say] surpass the original.
‘V’ was one of the first mini-series that drew my attention as a child and again as an adult, and the re-make
that hit ABC is equally impressive on every level. Although the story between the original and the re-make
may be similar in ways, the re-make takes it one step by adding impressive storylines and characters that make it shine on
a different level as the original. ‘V’ is a show that pays homage to the original, but adds
just enough twists and turns to make it its own.
From the beginning episode until the final moment
in season one, ‘V’ is extremely exciting and full of twists. It has something for everyone,
and not just fans of this particular genre. It has many elements that will draw in different types of viewers:
Action, Sci-fi, Romance, Drama… every aspect of a great program can be seen here.
Acting on television programs has grown so much since the original hit television
sets in the early 80’s, and the acting in the new ‘V’ is proof to that statement.
Unfortunately not everything on TV is perfect, and even ‘V’ can’t
get away with being called a perfect program. Although the storyline is incredible and compelling, it does
suffer from drawn out sequences that could easily be settled within minutes, but actually gets drawn out between episodes.
But for fans of shows such as ‘Lost’… this could be easily overlooked because the story is so compelling
that you only want to keep watching.
Impressive
acting all around and visually stunning graphics for an ABC series, ‘V’ may be the show that replaces ‘Lost’
in the hearts of many ABC viewers. Quite possibly the best thing on network television today!
