How did I not know about Birds of Prey? And I thought I knew everything that's been made about Gotham City's
Batman. Birds of Prey shows us a world without Batman, a world where his own daughter (yes, I said daughter) takes over
the role of caped crusader, but without the cape.
Ashley Scott plays The Huntress,
Bruce Wayne's flesh and blood. In the comic book world The Huntress belonged to an alternate universe (also known
as Earth Two), in this rendition The Huntress is a resident of New Gotham and Batman has mysteriously left due to the sudden
death of Catwoman. Helena Kyle (aka The Huntress, when she's not kicking butt) has teamed up with Barbara Gordon
(Batgirl, known as Oracle on this series), and together they clean up New Gotham using every means possible.
The show has charm and charisma, almost like a Smallville clone in the Batman world. Only not as good as Smallville,
it's missing the character development and storyline that Smallville has. But still a solid release, too bad it
was cancelled after the first season. I wouldn't mind seeing Ashley Scott kick some more butt in another season.
Definitely worth a look!
