One of Hanna Barbera’s classic
cartoons, which originally aired in 1967, finally comes home to DVD on a two disc set that includes every episode of the short
lived series. At first sight some may pass on the show only because it looks like
another Space Ghost / Justice League wannabe. But the show is so much more than that. It
has great action for kids (and adults who are kid at heart), and good storylines as well.
Each episode is filled with short sequences such as Looney Tunes and Animaniacs, which means that it gets straight to the
point and doesn’t drag along like a lot of other cartoons made in the same time. But that is also
it’s weakness. Because each episode is only about seven minutes long you don’t really get to
know each character or situation like you should - it just jumps right into the action without explanation. Birdman has very similar powers as DC Comic’s Hawkman, and The Galaxy Trio is very
similar to Marvel Comic’s Fantastic Four - so if you’re a fan of those (or any other superhero), then you will
really enjoy this DVD. Good: Good superhero fun for all ages. Bad: Some episodes
are too short. Why didn’t this show last longer than one season? Buy it now at WarnerVideo.com!
