Beauty and the Beast: Belle's Magical World (Special Edition)
Rating: 1.5 out of 5

Along with Beauty and the Beast: Enchanted Christmas – Disney is also releasing a special edition of Beauty and the Beast: Belle’s Magical World on DVD.  And unfortunately, it’s not nearly as good as Enchanted Christmas.

With the exception of Anne Rogers who replaces Angela Lansbury as Mrs. Potts – the rest of the noticeable cast return once again to this beloved Disney franchise.  And once again - the cast does remarkably well.  Not too many movies with so many sequels under its belt can say that they still have the original cast – so this goes a long way with me.

We join Belle, Beast, Cogsworth, Lumiere and a few hundred other friends as they all discover how teamwork and friendship can make life better in the enchanted kingdom and life itself.  I honestly feel that each episode featured in this release features good morals for children to learn and to follow.  But unfortunately, for us adults - the storylines were cheesy, predictable and generic… even for a children’s program.  It was as if we were watching a bad Saturday morning cartoon on PBS.  And the animation was only slightly better.  And with the introduction of too many new walking/talking appliances – this is a recipe for disaster.

The Bottom Line: This is exactly what I think of when I think Disney sequels – dumbed down graphics and storylines.  If it wasn’t for the original cast returning – this would have been a complete loss.
